Estimating the accuracy of dichotomous judgments.
نویسنده
چکیده
A reliability study is assumed to be carried out with each of a number of observers making a dichotomous ]udgment concerning each of a sample of subjects. A nonparametric model is proposed for the errors underlying such judgments, and conditions are given under which Cochran's Q statistic is valid for testing the hypothesis of no systematic differences among the judgments of the different observers. Inferences concerning the probabilities of error are shown to be possible in terms of the intraclass correlation coefficient. & numerical example is given.

This paper describes procedures for estimating single-administration classification consistency and accuracy using the multinomial and compound multinomial models for tests with complex item scoring. Various classification consistency and accuracy indices are discussed. The procedures are illustrated using a real data set obtained from a test consisting of both polytomous and dichotomous items.
متن کاملEM-Based Inference of True Labels Using Confidence Judgments
We have developed a method for accurately inferring true labels from labels provided by crowdsourcing workers, with the aid of self-reported confidence judgments in their labels. Although confidence judgments can be useful information for estimating the quality of the provided labels, some workers are overconfident about the quality of their labels while others are underconfident. To address th...
متن کاملNonlinear models of clinical judgement: communal nonlinearity and nonlinear accuracy.
Despite our intuition that representative expert judgments are highly nonlinear, previous studies have shown only little, if any, nonlinearity in such judgments. The current study presents a method for assessing nonlinearity in judgment that is based on estimating communal nonlinearity--the systematic nonlinearity shared by the community of judges. The article also examines the predictive accur...
متن کاملThe politics of gaydar: ideological differences in the use of gendered cues in categorizing sexual orientation.
In the present research, we investigated whether, because of differences in cognitive style, liberals and conservatives would differ in the process of categorizing individuals into a perceptually ambiguous group. In 3 studies, we examined whether conservatives were more likely than liberals to rely on gender inversion cues (e.g., feminine = gay) when categorizing male faces as gay vs. straight,...

Background: Cortical Evoked Response Audiometry (CERA) refers to prediction of behavioral pure-tone thresholds (500-4000 Hz) obtained by recording the N1-P2 complex of auditory long latency responses. CERA is the preferred method for frequency–specific estimation of audiogram in conscious adults and older children. CERA has an increased accuracy of determination of the hearing thresholds of ale...
